Thank you for taking the time to review my website. I consider this an honor and heartfelt grace to share my creative talents with you. With the encouragement of my sons, family, and friends, I am thrilled to offer my first book, Devine’s Moments in Time. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
D. M. Stevens was born in Harlem, NY, and later moved to South Jamaica, Queens with her grandmother and five brothers after her mother’s illness. Her passion for writing poetry and short stories developed during this time. She found solace in the mobile library bus that visited her neighborhood weekly and drew inspiration from black writers such as Nikki Giovanni.
As heroin swept through her community and young black men were either incarcerated or sent to Vietnam, D. M. Stevens found her voice through writing. Later, after marriage, motherhood, and a move to Atlanta, Georgia, she reignited her creative spirit. Retirement finally gave her the freedom to return to writing after a 30-year hiatus, leading to the release of Devine’s Moments in Time, her first fiction book.
Devine’s struggle with anxiety, following the death of her father and the loss of her first love, Madison, led her down a path of drug dependence—one she refused to acknowledge. Her inner strength remained buried beneath the fear she clung to when facing life’s challenges. Will time and growth help her realize that confronting her fears is the key to freeing herself from those little white pills?
This book touched my soul. The journey of love, loss, and self-discovery was incredibly moving. I saw pieces of my own story within its pages, and it reminded me that hope and faith can carry us through even the darkest times.
A beautifully written novel that showcases the resilience of the human spirit. The characters are so real and relatable, and their struggles and triumphs made me laugh, cry, and reflect on my own life. This is a must-read!
I couldn’t put this book down! The emotional depth and authenticity in the storytelling kept me engaged from beginning to end. A truly inspiring read that stays with you long after you’ve turned the last page.
